Crazy colors filled the sky behind us as the intense laser fire of the space pirates was absorbed by our digital bulwark of shields.
Our destination was the alabaster ring at Regent's Orbital, and even ejecting cargo-- real or otherwise-- was unlikely to deter our assailants.
Quite suddenly, the captain roared the orders. We reversed our engines and swung the ship into an aggresive turn. Nervous instants passed until the millisecond came that we were face-to-face with the foe.
Then, with a bright blast, our main laser vomited with full force at the speed of light disintegrating our foe.

99 Words is a pet project I started in 2011 when at college. The idea was that I didn't have time for writing, but still had passing fancies, visions, plot ideas, and the like. Instead of tossing them to the wayside, I came up with a plan to turn those notes into little chunkules of text, each 99 words long. This is section is still updated.
