99 Words

Number 22

Beneath the deep gray sky, a gravel path ran between tall, foreboding deep green trees. Their titanic branches loomed over Hammer as he ran. Hammer's feet crunched the gravel and his warm breath made steam in the cold winter's air.

In his gloved hands, he carried a metallic box with a long, black wire attached to it. On the top of the box was two rectangular holes and some dials studded the sides.

At the end of the path, the trees opened to a clearing with a pond. Hammer plugged in the toaster and threw it: fish for dinner.

A Word

99 Words is a pet project I started in 2011 when at college. The idea was that I didn't have time for writing, but still had passing fancies, visions, plot ideas, and the like. Instead of tossing them to the wayside, I came up with a plan to turn those notes into little chunkules of text, each 99 words long. This is section is still updated.
